Geraint Thomas Second In Giro d’Italia

Geraint Thomas was able to claim second position in the Giro d’Italia. All eyes were on this Welsh rider who completed the last leg of the race with ease.

It was a span of 159 km that spanned the distance from Pedara to Messina in the Sicily region. As a result, he finished in the 20th position when he reached the finishing line.

The stage five of this race was for the sprinters and Geraint Thomas had little problem holding onto the second spot in the standings overall. Known as the Welsh wizard, his fans were enthralled to see his performance as he completed the last and final leg of the race.

Gaviria and his team mate Bob Jungels retained the leading race jersey in pink. All the star riders were spooked with the kind of turnout that the race had this time.

Thomas on his part admitted that he was happy for Fernando to have obtained the victorious position and that he himself had to have nerves of steel to be part of the race in Messina.

The amount of people who were on the streets were numerous and it was getting dangerous as most people were edging closer to the road, wanting selfies and pictures and other mementos of the race.

On the other hand, there were about 200 riders who were finishing the race. Hence, it was definitely a dangerous situation. Indeed, this race has gained popularity over the years and this year saw a lot more crowds coming in to cheer the riders and to follow the race as it took place in different parts of Italy. It remains to be seen how Geraint’s remaining year works out and what other challenges are lined up for him in the form of competitive races this year.
